Steps
1
Wear Comfortable Clothing: Since CST is done fully clothed, it’s important to wear loose, comfortable clothing that allows for easy movement. Avoid tight or restrictive clothing like belts or jeans, as the therapy involves subtle shifts in the body that should be free of physical constraints.
2
Hydrate Before the Session: Staying hydrated helps your body respond to the therapy more effectively, as proper hydration supports the flow of cerebrospinal fluid, which is a focus in CST. Especially hydrate early in the day, several hours before your session.
3
Arrive with an Open Mind: The effects of CST can be subtle and gentle, so coming into the session with a calm, open mindset allows you to tune into the body’s natural rhythms. There’s no need to “expect” anything specific—just be open to the possibility of healing, relaxation, and a deeper connection with your body.
4
Communicate with Your Practitioner: Before the session begins, share any specific issues, concerns, or goals you have for the therapy. Whether it’s chronic pain, stress, or a change in your health, clear communication helps me tailor the session to your needs.
5
Allow Time for Post-Session Integration: Plan your schedule so you can take it easy after the session. CST often induces a deep sense of relaxation, and it’s best to give yourself time to integrate the experience afterward. Avoid jumping back into a busy day immediately.
6
Relax and Be Present: During the session, try to focus on your breath and let go of any tension in your body. There’s no need to “do” anything—simply relax and trust that your body knows how to respond to the gentle touch of the therapy.
These steps help ensure you’re physically and mentally prepared to receive the full benefits of craniosacral therapy.
